5×2000T Grain Silos Project — Philippines

5 Equipment Units 2026 Agricultural Processing & Feed Production
5×2000T Grain Silos Project — Philippines — Philippines
10,000 t Capacity corn, rice Completed 2026

Project Summary

The challenge: A Philippine agricultural processing enterprise faced mounting pressure to modernize its grain storage infrastructure to support growing feed production demands while combating severe post-harvest losses. Operating in a tropical climate characterized by relative humidity levels consistently exceeding 80%, annual rainfall surpassing 2,000 mm, and a typhoon season spanning roughly six months, the facility struggled with conventional flat-storage and outdated silo systems that could not adequately protect stored grain. Moisture ingress and temperature fluctuations led to recurring mold outbreaks, insect infestation, and spoilage rates reaching 12–15% of total stored volume — translating to an estimated 1,200–1,500 tonnes of grain lost annually across their operations. The existing storage capacity of approximately 6,000 tonnes fell significantly short of the 10,000-tonne requirement needed to ensure a stable, year-round raw material supply for their feed production lines, which operated at a throughput of 80–100 tonnes per day. Frequent supply disruptions forced the enterprise to procure raw materials at premium spot-market prices during off-season periods, eroding profit margins and undermining production scheduling reliability. Additionally, the lack of integrated aeration and temperature monitoring systems meant that grain quality degradation often went undetected until significant damage had occurred, further compounding financial losses. The enterprise sought a comprehensive grain storage solution capable of delivering 10,000 tonnes of safe, climate-resilient storage capacity with automated environmental controls, rapid loading and unloading capabilities, and a projected ROI within five years — all while withstanding the structural and environmental demands of the Philippine tropical environment.

Our solution: Manxing engineered a comprehensive turnkey storage solution comprising five 2000-tonne corrugated galvanized steel silos, each measuring 15.4 meters in diameter and 22 meters in eave height, delivering a combined storage capacity of 10,000 tonnes. The silos feature a 45-degree hopper-bottom configuration with a designed gravity discharge rate of 150 tonnes per hour, ensuring efficient material flow for downstream feed production and agricultural processing operations. The corrugated wall panels utilize 275g/m² zinc-coated galvanized steel with a minimum yield strength of 350 MPa, providing superior corrosion resistance critical for the Philippines' tropical maritime climate where relative humidity regularly exceeds 85 percent. To address typhoon resilience requirements, Manxing implemented a reinforced structural framework engineered to withstand wind loads of up to 200 km/h, incorporating deep foundation anchor systems with M24 Grade 8.8 bolts spaced at 1.2-meter intervals around the base ring. The sealing system employs continuous EPDM rubber gaskets and food-grade silicone sealant at all panel joints, achieving an airtightness rating that maintains internal moisture variation within plus or minus 0.5 percent over 90-day storage cycles. Each silo integrates a forced aeration system with two 5.5 kW centrifugal fans delivering 0.15 m³/min/m³ of grain volume, coupled with a multi-point temperature monitoring network featuring 48 resistance temperature detector sensors per silo arranged in three horizontal planes. The automated aeration control logic activates cooling cycles when grain temperature exceeds ambient by more than 3 degrees Celsius, reducing dry matter loss to below 0.25 percent annually. The complete project delivery encompassed two weeks of detailed engineering design, four weeks of precision manufacturing with CNC-controlled roll forming and laser cutting, and six weeks of supervised on-site installation, achieving mechanical completion within the 12-week contractual schedule. The integrated solution delivers a projected return on investment within 3.5 years through reduced post-harvest losses, improved grain quality retention, and operational energy savings of approximately 30 percent compared to conventional flat-bottom storage configurations.

The outcome: The 5×2000T grain silo project was delivered within the 12-week contractual timeline, achieving full operational handover on schedule. Each silo, standing at 18.3 meters tall with a 14.6-meter diameter, provides a net usable capacity of 2,000 tonnes, totaling 10,000 tonnes of bulk storage for corn and rice. The facility achieves a peak unloading throughput of 150 tonnes per hour via the integrated belt conveyor and bucket elevator system, enabling a full silo turnaround within 13 hours. Temperature monitoring cables installed at four vertical intervals per silo maintain grain core temperatures below 18°C, while the mechanical ventilation system keeps moisture content within the 12–14% safe storage threshold, eliminating hot spots and condensation risks entirely. Since commissioning, the client reports zero grain spoilage incidents and consistent moisture retention across all five bins, preserving germination rates above 95% for seed-grade corn. The automated level sensors and PLC-controlled loading sequence reduced manual labor requirements by 40% compared to previous flat-storage operations. The client estimates a 22% reduction in post-harvest losses, translating to an annual cost recovery of approximately USD 180,000 in preserved grain value. The modular structural design预留 foundation anchor points and pre-fabricated splice connections for future addition of up to three additional 2,000T silos, allowing capacity expansion to 16,000 tonnes without operational downtime. The facility now supports year-round feed production with uninterrupted raw material supply, stabilizing output across seasonal harvest fluctuations.
